Vorssaint: Free Open-Source macOS Menu Bar Toolkit

Vorssaint is a free, open-source macOS menu bar utility toolkit designed to consolidate multiple paid Mac tools into a single interface. Licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0, it is built with Swift and SwiftUI for macOS 14 and later on Apple Silicon hardware.

The project uses a modular architecture where users install only the features they need. Uninstalled modules stop loading and disappear from the interface, and setup requests only the permissions required by active features. It operates without user accounts or telemetry.

Core Features and Modules

Vorssaint includes utilities covering audio, system performance, window management, input devices, and clipboard workflows:

  • Volume Mixer: Adjusts per-app volume and routes audio outputs without requiring extra audio drivers, including volume boosting past 100% and headphone disconnect protection.
  • System Monitor: Tracks CPU, GPU, memory, temperatures, battery health, and power usage with history graphs, alongside a beta manual fan control and temperature curve editor.
  • Windows and Dock: Offers window snapping layouts, app switcher live previews, Dock icon hover previews, and accidental ⌘Q quit protection.
  • Keyboard and Mouse: Provides text snippet expansion, smooth scrolling, independent scroll direction toggles, and a Super key modifier mapping.
  • Clipboard and Shelf: Stores searchable text, image, and file clipboard history alongside a temporary drag-and-drop file shelf.

Caveats and Requirements

  • Requires macOS 14 or later and Apple Silicon.
  • The Microphone Mute feature is an operational software toggle rather than a hardware-level privacy lock; certain apps may still capture audio.
  • The Music app blocker requires macOS Accessibility permissions.
