Treg Open-Source Agent Tool Catalog and Proxy: Single-Token External API Integration and Self-Hosting

Treg is an open-source tool catalog and proxy for AI agents. Treg enables AI agents to call catalog tools through a single base URL and token without requiring separate provider signups.

It is engineered for developers looking to reduce the overhead of multiple paid API subscriptions and integrate external capabilities into agent workflows quickly and securely.

Open-Source Agent Tool Catalog Connected via a Single Token and Base URL

Treg's core philosophy is "Ask for the task, not the tool." Developers or agents do not need to know which vendor sells specific data or hold an account with them; they can search for what they want to do, review the price, and invoke it immediately.

  • Unified Proxy Architecture: Much like OpenRouter unified language models into a single endpoint, Treg relays thousands of endpoints—spanning SEO and backlinks, social trends, lead generation, and image/video generation—through a single token (X-Treg-Token).
  • Server-Side Credential Injection: Paid API keys and auth tokens held by the team are injected securely on the server side, ensuring they never leave the server or expose credentials to the caller's agent environment.
  • 0% Markup and Self-Hosting: Released as open source (superdesigndev/treg), anyone can self-host the system. When using the team's own keys, calls operate directly under the original provider's billing structure with zero added markup.

Two Kinds of Tools Under One Token Scheme

Treg integrates external catalogs and team-owned tools into a unified token framework:

  • The Catalog: External endpoints served by Treg using its own keys or verified public routes requiring no provider keys.
  • Your Own Tools: Anything registered by a teammate—a paid API account, OAuth connection, vendor CLI (stripe, gh, vercel), or a SKILL.md recipe. Team-registered credentials always take precedence over Treg's defaults, and those calls remain unmetered.

Additionally, via CLI installation (treg login and treg catalog search), developers can immediately discover and test tools from the terminal, with Claude Code plugin installation support.

Lightweight Installation and Workflow Skill Integration

Beyond the standalone CLI, Treg provides ready-made workflow recipes designed to run end-to-end through agents:

# 1. Install the CLI
curl -fsSL https://treg.to/install.sh | sh

# 2. Sign in (GitHub default)
treg login

# 3. Search and call catalog tools instantly
treg catalog search "backlinks for a domain"
treg call tikhub.tiktok.user.profile --query uniqueId=tiktok

Claude Code users can initiate integration instantly via plugin marketplace commands without prior token configuration. The repository and source code are fully open on GitHub (superdesigndev/treg).
