Yoland Yan Says Higgsfield Sent ComfyUI a Cease-and-Desist Over Open Source Challenge

In an October 30, 2026 X post, Yoland Yan said Higgsfield sent ComfyUI an attached cease-and-desist (C&D) letter demanding removal of the 'Open Source Higgsfield' challenge within 48 hours. Yan said Higgsfield argued that use of its name and its CEO's likeness infringed its rights and made the event appear associated with Higgsfield.

Yan said the letter would not change ComfyUI's position and that the challenge would stay up.

According to Yan, Higgsfield's arguments concerned use of its name and its CEO's likeness.

Yan said Higgsfield objected to use of the Higgsfield name and its CEO's likeness, arguing that this made the event appear associated with the company. Yan said Higgsfield demanded removal of the challenge within 48 hours.

Community Challenge Context and Yan's Response

Yoland Yan posted images of the cease-and-desist on X alongside a response to Higgsfield's claims.

Yan stated that Higgsfield had promised to open source its product but never did. Yan said builders had spent the preceding two weeks recreating popular closed apps as open workflows anyone can run, and that ComfyUI asked its community to build open alternatives. Yan also said the challenge was organized by ComfyUI and was not affiliated with or endorsed by Higgsfield.

Yan Says the Challenge Will Stay Up

Despite the demand, Yan said the 'Open Source Higgsfield' challenge would stay up.

Yan said ComfyUI had promised its community that its product would remain open, free, and theirs. Yan added that one letter would not change that commitment and that the challenge would stay up.
