Google Antigravity CLI Officially Adds Native Android Termux Support
Google's AI coding agent CLI Antigravity (agy) now officially supports native execution in Android Termux, enabling local mobile agent workflows.
Google's terminal-based AI coding agent CLI, Antigravity (invoked via agy), now officially supports native execution on Android inside Termux environments. This update allows developers to run autonomous terminal agent workflows directly on Android mobile devices without relying on remote SSH sessions, chroot environments, or unofficial patched binaries.

Previously, running AI coding agents on Android required complex workarounds, such as hosting full Linux distributions inside PRoot containers or manually compiling community patch binaries. With official installer support for Android Termux targets, developers can now provision an operational agent runtime with a single command.
Single-Command Installation and Usage Workflow
Antigravity CLI is distributed via Google's official shell installation script. On any Android device with Termux installed, the CLI can be installed directly from the terminal prompt:
curl -fsSL https://antigravity.google/cli/install.sh | bash
Once installation completes, users can launch the agent immediately by running agy in Termux.
- Native Execution: The agent process executes directly within the Termux shell runtime, autonomously inspecting codebases, modifying source files, and executing terminal commands.
- Untethered Local Workflows: Eliminates the need for continuous remote host connections, cloud bridges, or browser-based companion interfaces.
- Mobile Development Ergonomics: Enables on-device triage, quick script edits, and emergency maintenance workflows directly from mobile devices and tablets.
Sandbox Requirements and Operational Caveats
Deploying terminal agents within mobile environments introduces specific platform constraints that developers should account for:
- Pre-installed Toolchains: While the
agybinary runs natively, project-specific dependencies and utilities required for verification (such as Git, Node.js, Python, or build tools) must be pre-configured inside Termux via its package manager (pkg). - Android Sandbox Boundaries: Agent execution is confined to the Termux sandbox and user permission scope, restricting direct modifications to native system-level files outside the emulator environment.
- Hardware and Interface Factors: Extended agent sessions on virtual touch keyboards can be ergonomically challenging, making physical Bluetooth keyboards preferable for extended tasks. Intensive build and agent iteration loops may also increase device thermals and battery consumption.
