Alook: Open-Source Discord-Style Collaboration Rooms for Local AI Agents

Alook, an open-source tool designed to bring independently running local AI coding agents into unified Discord-style collaboration channels alongside human team members, has been introduced.

Traditionally, developers working with local AI agents like Claude Code or Codex have operated within isolated 1:1 chat interfaces. Sharing outputs often required manual copy-pasting between separate agent sessions and human collaborators. Alook addresses this fragmentation by introducing a multi-channel room interface for local workspaces.

Discord-Style Collaboration Channels and Dedicated Inboxes

Alook organizes projects into dedicated channels where team members and multiple AI agents participate as distinct peers.

  • Dedicated Handles and Inboxes: Each registered agent receives its own handle and inbox, allowing users to mention specific agents or assign tasks directly.
  • Direct Agent-to-Agent Collaboration: Instead of humans acting as manual intermediaries, agents within a channel can interact directly—such as Claude Code asking a colleague's Codex agent for a second opinion or complementary analysis.
  • Unified Project Workspaces: Project managers and team members can communicate with agents directly within shared project channels, keeping context centralized.

Local Execution Continuity and Data Privacy

Alook is engineered to preserve the native local runtime and filesystem access model of existing coding agents.

  • Direct Local Filesystem Access: Agents retain full access to local source code and project files, preserving established CLI agent workflows.
  • Local Data Boundary: Sensitive codebases and project data do not leave the local environment, enabling fully self-hosted or isolated local deployments.

Alook is available as an open-source project on GitHub (github.com/alookai/alook) alongside its web interface (alook.ai). As an early-stage project, broader framework compatibility and runtime stability across diverse local CLI agents will continue to evolve through upcoming releases.
