Hermes SEO helps Hermes inspect websites, prepare SEO recommendations, validate or draft structured data, and run workflows for content, local search, international SEO, and AI search visibility.
Package Architecture and Main Workflows
Centered around a primary router skill named seo, Hermes SEO bundles 25 individual workflow skills, 19 specialist role skills, 56 utility scripts, and Schema.org templates.
- Core Workflow Skills: Key skills include
hermes-seo:seo-auditfor site-wide findings and priorities,hermes-seo:seo-pagefor single-URL on-page reviews,hermes-seo:seo-technicalfor crawlability, indexing, and technical checks, andhermes-seo:seo-schemafor inspecting, validating, or drafting Schema.org JSON-LD. - AI Search Optimization (GEO): The
hermes-seo:seo-geoskill provides Generative Engine Optimization analysis for AI search visibility. - Specialist Roles: The package includes 19 specialist role skills alongside its workflow skills.
Runtime Architecture and Commands
Hermes SEO introduces three main command-line options: hermes seo setup, hermes seo doctor, and hermes seo run.
hermes seo setup: Creates a private Python virtual environment (venv) and downloads pinned Python dependencies. Browser setup also downloads Chromium, unless skipped, and may use substantial disk space.hermes seo doctor: Can be run with--jsonto check runtime readiness without changing the system.- Isolated Execution: Credentialed utilities can run through
hermes_seo_run; utility execution uses the isolated environment and a script allowlist.
Compatibility and Technical Limitations
When deploying Hermes SEO, several platform requirements and technical caveats apply:
- System Requirements: Requires Hermes Agent 0.22.2 or newer and Python 3.10+ with
venvsupport on Linux and macOS. Windows is not declared because the registered runtime launches through Bash. - Google OAuth Disabled: Because Hermes Agent does not currently support profile-scoped Google authorization routes, OAuth-dependent workflows for Google Search Console, GA4, Google Ads, and the Indexing API remain disabled.
- Third-Party API Integrations: Optional integrations for DataForSEO, Ahrefs, Firecrawl, SE Ranking, and Bing Webmaster require compatible MCP servers or individual service credentials configured in Hermes and remain inactive unless configured.
