The release highlights a fully client-side browser workflow, contrasting with the recurring subscription and remote cloud processing models common in proprietary commercial suites.
Browser-Local AI Image Relighting with Zero Server Uplinks
ImageFlow's core capability centers on manipulating lighting vectors, angles, and surface illumination in real time using the client's local computing environment.
- Local Execution and Free Access: Image data remains inside the user's web browser without roundtripping to external cloud infrastructure, and the feature is currently accessible free of charge.
- Direct Navigation Path: Users can access the tool on the ImageFlow web canvas by navigating to the
Imagemenu and opening theRelighttab to activate lighting controls. - Client-Side Privacy: Keeping compute entirely within the local runtime eliminates network transfer latency and mitigates data privacy concerns related to cloud uploads.
Regarding competitive claims against proprietary suites, open-source developers have pointed out the maturity of open relighting research over recent years, focusing discussion on cast shadow precision and local runtime optimization.
Standalone Desktop Application and Lightroom Alternative Roadmap
Following the web-based release of ImageFlow, the developer also revealed active development on dedicated desktop tooling.
- ImageFlow Desktop Application: A standalone desktop build is under development to leverage local GPU hardware acceleration beyond browser sandbox constraints.
- New Lightroom Alternative Project: Bouanane confirmed plans for a dedicated alternative to Lightroom aimed at broader photo organization, lighting control, and color grading.
Both the desktop application and the upcoming photo editing tool are currently under active development, with launch timelines to be announced.
